SECOND HAND COMPUTER is a digital toy and fantasy console, of sorts.
It is a virtual DOS-style computer running a fake operating system called FT-DOS, which contains numerous text-based games you can play, including a full working version of Swords of Freeport , a new text game called Bootleg and ports of various other classic text mode games such as Dope Wars and Oregon Trail.
Along side the existing games, Second Hand Computer also lets you create your own text mode games using two different systems:
ODYSSEY is a minimalist text adventure / interactive fiction engine which lets you produce simple text adventures without a single line of code.
Or, for more control, FUNScript is our name for LUA Scripts that can be run from within Second Hand Computer, allowing you to produce simple text games.
Second Hand Computer runs on Linux, Mac and also Windows if you really must do such a thing.
